Reimagined Together in Prayer and Reflection
Online Lenten Book Study
using Joyce Rupp’s Boundless Compassion as a resource for learning
with Susanna Bertelsen
For anyone interested in deepening their capacity to live out of compassion, or, in exploring how compassion may be a companion on the path to peace, within ourselves, with others, and with the earth.
When: 6 Wednesday evenings,
March 9 – April 13,
Where: Online via Zoom
Using Boundless Compassion (2018) by Joyce Rupp as resource for learning and reflection, we will come together to broaden our awareness and understanding of compassion, by sharing our insights and life experiences evoked from the weekly readings.
Meeting for 6 Wednesday evenings beginning March 9th, this discussion group will reflect together on:
- compassion as a way of life
- welcoming ourselves
- the river of suffering
- from hostility to hospitality
- a thousand unbreakable links
- becoming a compassionate presence
Might this be a Lenten invitation to examine the role of “compassion” in your life? …to deepen your capacity to live out this virtue?
“Compassion is a heart-to-heart encounter because compassion flows from the human heart; it is not a rational conclusion to a problem. Rather, it is an act of love beyond what the mind can comprehend. The heart therefore must be able to see what may be blind to the physical eye.”
~Ilia Delio, O.S.F., Compassion
“In the first step toward a compassionate heart, we must develop our empathy or closeness to others.”
~Dalai Lama, An Open Heart

Susanna’s relationships with people of a wide variety of backgrounds has taught her to respect different faith perspectives and life paths. A life-long-learner, she is inspired by listening to the life stories of others as they seek hope and resiliency amid the challenges living presents. By learning to listen deeply to our life stories, we discover and claim the gifts and graces from God, who is with each one of us, daily, on our life’s journey.
