As I grow older, I am faced with increasing limitations and diminishments, especially as an Alzheimer’s caregiver. I imagine myself as an artist painting / expressing my life on canvas, and the canvases grow smaller.
I imagine God saying to me:
“Embrace the limitations and diminishments that have already occurred, and the ones that will grow exponentially as you age. Know that I will radically expand your creative response to whatever life brings – to paint and express in increasingly circumscribed space, with enhanced beauty, interior freedom and healing, depth, and complexity.”
