About The Class

A retreat series that invites you to experience spiritual heroes of the Christian tradition in new and unexpected ways. We’ll use art, music, guided reflection and our imaginations to strengthen existing relationships with these powerful women, or meet a new soul friend.

Encountering Mary, Mother of God, Date

The maternal presence of Mary, Mother of God is always available to all, but her healing strength may be especially needed now.

Encountering Mary Magdalene, Date

Chosen by Jesus to witness the resurrection and announce his message, Mary Magdalene has much to teach us about the inward act of spiritual transformation and claiming our own authority.

Encountering Hildegard of Bingen, Date

Mystic, composer, healer, writer, scientist: Hildegard lived fully submerged in the flow of divine creativity and inspiration.  How can she guide us in opening ourselves more fully to Spirit?

Encountering Julian of Norwich, Date

Living alone in a tiny cell during a plague and political upheaval, Julian reveals to us how she nurtured a profound trust in God and the felt presence of divine love.

Carolyn Kolovitz

Instructor

Carolyn’s life work is accompanying people through life transitions. Whether working with tween girls transitioning into womanhood, young adults embarking on new career or relationship paths, people at midlife feeling stuck on autopilot, or the dying as they review their lives and let go of the earthly realm – Carolyn focuses on self-compassion and connecting people to what brings the most meaning to their lives.

Carolyn often uses her professional and personal background in trauma-related issues when she taps people into their inner wisdom and self-compassion. This background informs Carolyn’s faith in the wisdom and resiliency of the human spirit.
