The Mystical Metaphors of Christmas:
An Online Advent Retreat with Carolyn Kolovitz
Dates: Saturdays, December 7, 14, 21
Time: 10:00 – 11:15 am
Where: Online via Zoom
About The Class
A contemplative journey into the biblical stories, art and music of the season to explore their rich archetypal, spiritual/mystical, and natural/seasonal layers of meaning. This meditative experience has become an annual Advent tradition for some participants, a way of being fully present to the season while each year going a bit deeper into the heart of the Christmas story.
Inspired by Richard Rohr’s Advent teachings as well as the Ignatian practice of imaginative prayer, there will be guided visualizations, visio divina (praying with art images), reflective writing prompts, music and story sharing.
Dec 7 The Annunciation: The Power to Say Yes
Dec 14 The Magi: Navigating Our Journey
Dec 21 The Nativity: Wonder & Awe
Past participants of Carolyn’s Advent retreats said:
I gained “connection with God, a reminder about what is life-giving & joy-bringing for me and understanding that we are all in various places on our journey as we experience a season like Advent.”
I appreciated “the balance of presentation, reflection and sharing as well as the variety of poetry, visuals, & quiet and Carolyn’s laid back, light-hearted style.”
